GANG SHEET GUIDE
Your gang sheet prints exactly as you build it
We are often asked whether we check a gang sheet before it goes to print. The honest answer is that we do not check every gang sheet individually. Here is what that means for your order, and how to have your artwork looked at free of charge before you build.

What happens when you submit a sheet
Our gang sheet builder is designed so that the layout you put together is the layout we print. The sizes you set, the spacing you leave, and the number of copies you place are what comes off the printer. Nothing is resized, rearranged, or corrected at our end along the way.
That keeps the builder quick and puts the arrangement entirely in your hands. It is charged at a flat rate of £8.50 plus VAT per linear metre of 55cm wide film, whatever you fit on it.
If you press transfers for a living, that is usually exactly what you want. It does mean that the file you upload is the file that prints, including anything in it that you did not intend.
What our team will and will not catch
Our production team do keep an eye out as orders are printed and packed. If something obvious catches their attention, we will usually give you a call before the transfers go out, so that we can look at it together rather than send you something that is not right.
We would not want to promise that we will spot everything, though. Some artwork faults are very hard to notice until the transfer has been pressed. A sheet can look right on the film and still disappoint on the garment.
If a sheet prints with a fault that was in the artwork, get in touch and we will look at it with you. Where it is an early order and a genuine oversight, we will more often than not reprint it for you, and we will go through the artwork with you first so that the second run comes out right. We are not able to keep doing that for artwork that is submitted with the same faults again and again, which is one more reason to have the file checked before you build.
The faults that are easy to miss
These are the ones that tend to come to light only after a sheet has been printed.
Artwork that is not clean at size
A logo can look sharp as a pocket print and show jagged edges or small holes when the same file is placed at back-print size. The fault is there at both sizes. It is simply too small to see on the smaller one.
Backgrounds that are not transparent
A background that is not properly transparent is part of the artwork, and it will be printed along with the design. A white background is easy to miss when you are looking at it on a white screen.
Soft or semi-transparent edges
Our artwork requirements ask you to avoid semi-transparent effects, glow effects, gradients, and drop shadows around text or objects. A slight pale outline around the edge of a design is one of the faults that often cannot be seen until the transfer is on the garment.
The free artwork check
The way around all of this is to send us the artwork before you build your sheet.
Email it to us first
No charge. Email your artwork before you build your gang sheet and our designer will take a look and let you know if we think anything will cause a problem. They look at whether the resolution is high enough for the size you want to print, whether the background is properly transparent, and how the design is likely to hold up once it is printed at that size. There is no charge for advising on artwork suitability.
Or send it to us to lay out
Quoted per job. Email your files and quantities and one of our designers will check the artwork, size it, and arrange it to make the best use of the film. Artwork supplied this way is checked by our designer on every order. We send you a quotation before anything is printed, and print once it is approved and paid.
Our layout service is charged at a higher rate than the gang sheet builder. Full pricing, and our artwork requirements, are on our DTF Transfer Printing page.
Where the free advice stops
Looking at your file and telling you what we think is free. Changing the file is design work. Background removal, vectorising, resizing, colour separation, and redraws are chargeable, and we cannot confirm whether any of them is possible until our designer has examined the file.
Depending on how the artwork has been created, a change may be straightforward or it may need some manual work. If there would be a design charge, we will let you know before any work is carried out.
Before you submit a sheet
If you build your own sheets, a minute spent checking is worth it. Zoom in on the largest copy of each design in the builder and look closely at the edges. Check that each design is at the size you intend to press, and that the background is transparent rather than white.
Check the quantities, and that the sheet in your basket is the one you meant to order.
If it is a first order, a new piece of artwork, or a job you cannot afford to repeat, send us the file first. It costs nothing to ask.
Not sure about a file? Ask first.
Email your artwork and we will take a look, with no charge for the advice. If you have not pressed our transfers before, request a free sample pack and test them on your own press and garments first.
